For a designer, there's a story behind everything she observes. It is reflected in her choice of silhouettes, colors, and embellishments; in our timeless and sustainable ethnic ensembles.

At Erui, our pieces begin from earth-born "Rui," or cotton, which is eventually woven into cozy ethnic wear by the designer, inspired by the stories she captures while sketching her designs on paper.

About Us >

We've always believed that clothing carries more than just threads and objects. Each piece carries originality, as it is handmade, undergoing human warmth and carrying within it the stories of many patiently working artists for whom their art is everything. Every ensemble is a reflection rooted in earth, memory, and time.

And so begins our long-awaited chapter, Capsule Stories, unveiling in each thread timeless tales that bring one closer to us, as well as to their own authentic self. The handcrafted capsule collections celebrate slow couture, Indian storytelling fashion, and the art of sustainable design.

Capsule Stories

Whiffs of Nostalgia Wrapped in Traditional Charm

Literally, a "Capsule Story" can vary in meaning based on its context. Nonetheless, each one means a mini tale or collection of tales, as if preserved in an emotive or reflective time capsule. It can be a summary, a biography, a collection of memories, a fictional tale, a personal narrative, a short critique, or a quick sketch. Each capsule is like a pill that makes one experience mindful expressions of mood, muse, and craft.

While in fashion, a capsule reflects curated pieces by the designer, Earthenrui Capsule Stories are mini handcrafted story collections providing depth and meaning to authentic pieces shaped by artisans who understand quiet detail and deliberate design.

Unlike large seasonal drops, our sustainable fashion capsules are intimate, created to be collected in your wardrobe like a timeless saga. Each story reflects the evolving identity of modern Indian couture, the spice of life, and the merging of heritage textiles with contemporary silhouettes.

Gulmohar

Someone like Fragrant Shadows: Scenic, Soft, Steady

Gulmohar is inspired by the petals of the Gulmohar bloom that are fierce in shade yet soothing to eyes. While the range carries such shades, the plant itself stands still under the sun of summer and spring, deeply rooted in the earth. As the seasons outside change, the blossoms shed like cherished memories one desires to hold on to but knows well will fall as the monsoon arrives.

Tu Gulmohar (#YouGulmohar) reflects upon this fleeting stillness that the Gulmohar plant and its blossoms experience while staying deeply rooted in their core, covering the period of change and renewal. It captures the essence of celebrating oneself as they are, in their present form, while introspecting and blooming in warmth, steadiness, and memory.

Each ensemble evokes the emotion of transition: flowing silks, hand-finished cottons, tender reds fading into rose dusk. In the language of artisanal storytelling fashion, this capsule becomes a poem you can wear; a tactile recollection of summer's end and monsoon's arrival.

Every thread is intense as it honors Indian craftsmanship, mindful tailoring, and the essence of sustainable couture.

"Art Makes the Journey Beautiful"

Inspired by the Gulmohar Collection, its philosophy, and range, Frida: Art Makes the Journey Beautiful was created by Ritika Gupta (peaceritika). This stood as the freshly made mud on which the tales were placed on each bloomed piece in the garden of Gulmohar, providing depth and meaning to each toiled designer couture.

That slow, fleeting space and time between two seasons is covered by art as a means of expression for most, especially women in India — the healers, empaths, and quiet introverts who might be ever-present, but whose voices are often skipped, dismissed, or lost in a room that claims to be intellectual, brainy, or charitable.

We're ever-learning to create in rhythm with the seasons. Each handmade piece of clothing that you wear is like meditation in fabric form. Art, as they say, of any kind, is therapeutic.

Live in Present; Celebrate Yourself!

The souls that are ever conscious of the transient nature of life live in the “Nowness,” always in rhythm with nature. In simple words, these are the people around us who know the importance of taking a break. They observe the fast-paced world around them from a distance, walking in resilience at times, like Frida. They notice, learn, and create, laughing on their own, waiting for a moment of acceptance or to outgrow their present.

At Erui, each handcrafted capsule allows us to slow down, to explore one emotion, one narrative, one moment deeply. Most often, that emotion is love. This lets artists in Earthenrui's orbit focus on detail rather than volume, attuned to the very core of slow fashion in India.

In the tapestry of Gulmohar lies the message of “Pause” and “Reconnect” back to one’s inner core. Because no one knows you better than you know yourself. Through these limited-edition Indian fashion capsules and stories, we invite you to experience timeless, versatile, and emotionally resonant pieces.

What Next?

We invite such nostalgic men and women who are resilient and self-reliant to take a moment for themselves, fashioning in the shades of one of our ethnic suits or sarees from Collection Gulmohar; bringing you home, to your core, as you cross the fleeting stillness.

For the journey of becoming is long. Follow ours @earthenrui or here. This is where each story will begin and where we'll continue to share the evolution of modern Indian storytelling fashion.
